The Pretty Little Liars Season 4 winter premiere (Season 4, Episode 14: “Who’s in the Box”) hasn't even started yet, and we're already hyperventilating. Ezra might be "A". Ali is alive. The Liars are back in Rosewood. Things are about to get real, and we're a little scared of all the drama that might go down.
When we return to Rosewood tonight, we can expect to see the Liars grappling with what to do now that they know that Ali is alive and in hiding. Question numero uno — who the heck is buried in Ali's grave if it's not Rosewood's biggest mean girl herself?
Here's the official ABC Family synopsis of the episode:
Armed with the knowledge that Alison is alive, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have more questions now than ever before in an all-new episode of Pretty Little Liars. Trying to put the pieces together Hanna comes up with the idea that if they find out who is really buried in Ali’s grave it may lead to much needed answers. But as the girls search, Emily has trouble dealing with how she feels about Alison being alive.
Meanwhile, Caleb returns to Rosewood, and Ezra has clandestine meetings with Mona and Aria.
We know we aren't the only ones especially excited to see how Ezra acts in those "clandestine" meetings. Does Mona know the truth about him? Based on this sneak peek it looks like the answer is no, but you can never be sure with these characters. Hopefully we'll find out more tonight!
This is a live recap, so if you want to join us squealing over all the action in the winter premiere, keep refreshing for the latest updates. Until Season 4, Episode 14 officially starts (at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family!), here's a GIF of Rosewood's Most suspicious, Mr. Ezra Fitz.

Tuesday’s debut generated more than 1.3 million tweets by nearly 700,000 contributors, peaking at a rate of 30,000 tweets per minute. The series now accounts for the Top 5 most-tweeted TV series telecasts on record, with eight episodes amassing more than 1 million tweets
Pretty Little Liars ranked as Tuesday’s No. 1 telecast among women 18-34 (900,000), viewers 12-34 (2.1 million) and 12-34 females (1.8 million). It also was the No. 1 cable telecast in primetime in the 18-34 demo. An average of 3.2 million total viewers tuned in to join the search for the person who wanted to kill clique boss Alison, making it the No. 2 original cable telecast in overall audience (3.2 million) — just 100,000 viewers behind BET’s unveiling of Being Mary Jane (3.3 million).

Back in August, Pretty Little Liars clocked its biggest summer-finale crowd in viewers 12-34, 18-34, and 18-49, as well as total viewers (3.3 million). In the finale episode, the Liars got a riddle from “A” that sends them to Ravenswood, where one of them disappeared during a magic show, and a shocking discovery proved everything they thought they knew about “A” and the “A-Team” might be wrong and that the Liars may have just started World War A. You had to be there.
The August summer finale episode episode pulled in so many young women that it ranks as the No. 4 telecast in that bracket in ABC Family history. The whole World War A thing broke the show’s own social media records, becoming the most-tweeted series TV episode ever in SocialGuide’s books, with nearly 1.9 million tweets by 637,000 unique contributors, and spiking at 70,000 per minute in the show’s final minute. The soapy drama series consistently ranked as one of the top-10 most social series on Twitter throughout the 2013 summer season, SocialGuide said.
Tuesday’s crowd puts the winter season starter on par with the the 3.21 million who watched the Season 3 winter premiere on January 8, 2013. The “Who’s In The Box” episode was also up from the 2.972 million who tuned in for PPL’s Season 4 debut on June 11, 2013. The ABC Family flagship show, based on the novels of Sara Shepard, was renewed for a fifth season last spring with that cycle expected to debut this summer.
PPL spinoff Ravenswood also returned from its break last night. The freshman teen drama garnered 1.7 million viewers. That’s a drop from the 2.1 million who watched the series’ debut on October 22. It is however, up from the 1.11 million who tuned in for Ravenswood’s mid-season finale on November 19, 2013. Ravenswood is scheduled to wrap up its first cycle on January 28 with no word yet on a renewal. On the bright side, Ravenswood ranked as TV’s No. 1 telecast with females 12-34 (951,000), women 18-34 (508,000) and the No. 1 original cable TV telecast in adults 18-34 (583,000) and viewers 12-34 (1.0 million).
Right now, it seems like Emily (Shay Mitchell) wants nothing more than to connect with Alison (Sasha Pieterse), and in a new sneak peek of Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 18 (“Hot for Teacher”), we see that she's even willing to go to Shana (Aeriel Miranda) for help if that's what it takes to make amends.
This clip opens with Emily striding up to Shana and asking, "Was it her on the phone last night?" which suggests Em gets some kind of mysterious call.
Shana is less than forthcoming, replying snarkily that Emily had her shot to see Ali and messed it up. Will Ali ever forgive her? Right now, it seems like Em will have to work very hard if she wants to regain Ali's trust.
